2012 Rebate Program

People's Electric offers rebates to members installing energy efficient electric hot water heaters and heat pumps.
 

 

STANDARD REBATE PROGRAM
(Water Heaters and Heat Pumps)
 
  • Heat Pumps (units that do not qualify for the WFEC/PEC Co-Funded program discussed at right)
    • Rebate Amount
      • Air-to-air, dual fuel or ground water source heat pumps - $100.00/ton
    • Qualifications
      • SEER of 13 or greater
      • 5 year manufacturer's warranty
      • Agree to participate in PEC's Load Management Program
      • Rebates must be paid within 6 months of installation

  • Water Heaters
    • Rebate Amount
      • First time installation or replacement of gas units with electric - $100.00
      • Replacement of older electric units with new electric units - $ 50.00
    • Qualifications
      • At least a 30 gallon tank
      • 5 year manufacturer's warranty
      • Agree to participate in PEC's Load Management Program
      • Rebates must be paid within 6 months of installation

CO-FUNDED REBATE PROGRAM FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY
HEAT PUMPS

Program effective dates: January 1, 2012 - October 31, 2012

Make sure your equipment meets or exceeds the following energy efficiency ratings in order to qualify for a more substantial rebate payment from People’s Electric Cooperative (PEC):

  • RESIDENTIAL GUIDELINES
    • Geothermal Heat Pump
      • with Desuperheater, $525 per ton
        (optional feature which provides hot water for your home as a by-product of your heating/cooling system; DeSuperheaters must be connected to a tank > 40 gallons and must serve as the primary source of hot wate33r for the home)
      • without Desuperheater, $250 per ton
      • Minimum Specifications:
        • Closed Loop > 16.1 EER & 3.3 COP
        • Open Loop > 18.2 EER & 3.6 COP
        • 5 year warranty
        • Member agrees to participate in PEC’s load management program and assign ownership of the resulting environmental and renewable benefits for their heat pump to Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC), PEC’s power provider and co-sponsor of the expanded program
  • SMALL BUSINESS AND SCHOOLS GUIDELINES
    • Geothermal Heat Pump, $300 per ton
      (optional feature which provides hot water for your home as a by-product of your heating/cooling system)
      • Desuperheater NOT required
      • Minimum Specifications:
        • Closed Loop > 16.1 EER & 3.3 COP
        • Open Loop > 18.2 EER & 3.6 COP
        • 5 year warranty
        • Member agrees to participate in PEC’s load management program and assign ownership of the resulting environmental and renewable benefits for their heat pump to Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC), PEC’s power provider and co-sponsor of the expanded program

ALL OTHER HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS SHOULD STILL QUALIFY FOR PEC’S STANDARD REBATE PAYMENT OF $100 PER TON, PROVIDED THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY AND LOAD MANAGEMENT PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS ARE MET, AND REQUEST FOR PAYMENT IS MADE WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF INSTALLATION DATE. PLEASE REFER TO PEC’S STANDARD REBATE PROGRAM (AT LEFT) FOR THESE INSTALLATIONS.
